Spirit of CNY - 20.01.09

Time flies and MG members hosted a fun CNY gathering to usher in the Year of the Ox and of course to say goodbye to the "Mickey Mouse" or so called "Year of the Rat"!!

The dinner was supposed to start at 7.00p.m but those early birds waited... waited... and waited hungrily in the room. (You know lar... Chinese culture mah.) Well, looking at the watch and it was already 7.40pm. Somebody questioned, "When are we gonna have our dinner?" It was obvious that the VIP was not there yet! Arrrhhaa... who else? Andrew Kong, the proud father of Joshua & Jayden of course!

"Ring... ring...." Joanne picked up her handphone and it was HIM... He was nearby. At last the dinner could be served. Yeah! It started off with a toast to prosperity with a yee sang dish at our favorable restaurant, Hooi Long followed by "seven-course" dinner. Andrew brought a few good wines
. Ops! Do not ask me the name of the wines. Whatever in my mind has been summarised as below:-

1) Rose (read as "rozer" but Vienna called it as "open stomach" wine)
2) Riestling *white wine*
3) "Osh Lase" (Not sure of the spelling) *white wine* - with the taste of lemon, mineral and efferverscent
4) Shiraz *red wine*
5) Dessert wine - the most favourable to me and JiaEe! Great!

But but but... something went wrong. Oh Gosh! HP bought the wrong cakes again!!! This was the 2nd time she made the same mistake. Huh! No wonder she left early before eating the cake?!?!

The night ended on a high note where Andrew Kong distributing red packets to those yet to get married... hehehe... with the message "you guys are growing and it should be the last time to collect red packet in future CNY"

Familiar faces at the dinner were Kim, Andy, PY, Andrew, Foong, Joanne, HP, Vienna, BF, JE, Teo, Thressa and PuiPui. We wish everyone here a Happy & Prosperous Chinese New Year!

Jia Ee's farewell dinner - 22.12.08

Jia Ee has left us in Dec 08. As usual, we had a farewell dinner for her in our favourite restaurant, Hooi Loong. We will definitely miss her, especially her laughter !

All the best to you, Jia Ee. Thanks for your card too; lovely & touching. Eventhough we are no longer workmates, we definitely remember what you like - eat & sing ! We sure will count you in whenever we go Neway, Hooi Loong, buffet, steamboat ….. And you know what … we hardly have our tea and snacks since the day you left the office , simply because no one take the initiative to ask and offer around !!

Kim's birthday - 9.7.08

Another evening of eating, drinking, gossiping & laughing.... We celebrated Kim's birthday one week before because of Mr Busy, Yong-kor! We have actually long ago agreed to have the birthday dinner on the actual day, 17th july, expectedly, Yong-kor requested to change the date because he is travelling again??!! Well, of course we compromised for the sake of his wines .... just joking lah..... we are always flexible to fit in Yong-kor's busy schedule one!

Again, we went to King Crab. Foong couldn't make it again & Andy joined us as a member for his first function with us. Yong-kor took the opportunity to give him wine tasting lesson. Same like us, Andy was quite blur & couldn't memorize the description of wines. To give you some tips here, Andy, you may memorize something like mineral smell, long finish, tangerine, Dr. Loosen ..... then you may hopeful to receive compliment from Yong-kor that you "got see ground"!

A toast to Kim & our frienship

New member - Andy Cheng

Ha..ha... a new member has officially joined our club on 30.6.08, & he is the handsome Andy Cheng, Di kor!

Welcome on board, Di kor. You will have no regrets joining us!

HP's birthday - 27.6.08

Together with the zimuis, we had lunch at King Crab. Took some pictures & B used it to make a Happy Birthday slide. It's very touching & HP appreciates very much.

B's birthday - 16.6.08

There were only 4 of us celebrating B's birthday this year. Yong-kor was oustation & Foong was busy with work.

Never mind, we also enjoyed ourselves & had our favourite food in our favourite restaurant, Hooi Loong.

No matter how many of us left, our friendship will last forever !

AK & Fong's Farewell + Kim's House Warming - 2.5.08

Well, another member is leaving us - Yong-kor. It was Yong-kor who tendered the resignation earlier than Foong; but as Foong is giving shorter notice, so she stole Yong-kor's limelight; Everyone paid attention to her to bid farewell first!

But don't you worry, Yong-kor. We definitely are giving you a memorable farewell that is different from our usual "celebrations". Finally, we had steamboat in Kim's newly shifted condominium. Poh Jae sponsored for the food; Kim's mum helped to make the soup & some jelly for dessert; Kim's husband, Leo helped to chill the wine..... Look at the preparations !

We also combined another 2 occasions for the evening - Kim's house warming & Foong's farewell (again??!!)

Kim injured her foot whilst adjusting the TV to make more space for our occasion! The TV set fell down on her & Leo was so guilty! So sorry for them!

As usual, we eat, drink & laugh throughout the nite. Foong was drank; I guess Yong-kor must be very touched & he cried...........

YF's farewell lunch - 30 April 2008

Foong has decided to leave us after working together for 2 years and join another company. She's been always our little sister and eventhough we do not bear to part with her, but at her age, we still encourage to advance her career.

We bought her a lunch at King Crab, as usual, we took a family photo.

Of course, must also take photo with her Yong-kor-kor!

Foong, wish you all the best and please don't forget all your zimuis here in MG!

PY's birthday - 11 March 2008

This time, we went to Damansara Village for steamboat, since the birthday girl can't eat too spicy, too oily, too ....

As usual, we had wines, sponsored by Mr Yong-kor. Maybe the food is hot, or the wine is too good, all the zi-muis started to get high ! Look at the evidences !

Lastly, we had the lovely birthday girl, cutting the lovely ice-cream cake from Baskin Robbins. This was the first time ever that we finished up the whole cake !

Happy Birthday, Poh Jae. You are the best "tai ka jeh" & hope you be happy always.

All of us exchanged our views and thoughts on Dennis; Dennis also gave his comments, in fact compliments to each of us. Now, here came the hug hug moments ! Dennis hugged everyone except HP!

Look at the buddies !

Lastly, a group photo for memories

CNY 08 Hooi Loong Lou Sang

4 & 18 February 2008... Our Hoi Kung & Sai Kung Chau is at the same place. Hooi Loong Restaurant in Damansara Jaya. Dunno why, but we seems to enjoy the food there. And one thing for sure, Mr Andrew Kong was very late for this 2 days! Macam VVIP konon!

For Chinese New Year, one cannot miss the Lou Sang. This year we rate Hooi Loong's Lou Sang to be the most delicious one. Another dish that we wont forget is the "Har Cheong Phai Kwat". Trust us, is nice ok! Overall, all the dishes are quite good.

Our life has been upgraded recently. We are taking wine instead of beers now. Thank You to Yung Kor for the 5 white wine & 1 red wine. Thank you too, Dennis for your red wine! Yeap, you are right, we got total 7 bottle of wines... Don worry is for 2 occasion ok.

Well, i promised to give a brief explanation on the wines. So bear with me a while.

1st, Saint Clair's 2005 Sauvignon Blanc. RM80. White wine. Light. Fruity. Sweet. (ok we were too hungry so we drank it quite fast. so only short explanation) Rating: 7/10
2nd, Dr. Loosen Bros' 2006 Riesling. Px RM96.00. White wine. Fruity. Sweet. DELICIOUS especially with the fish! Rating: 8/10
3rd, Bodega Jacques Francois Lurton Mendoza 2006 Malbec Argentina. RM70. Red wine. Spicy. on sweet side. moderate tears. Long after taste. Brings out the sweetness of our prawn sauce spare ribs. Rating: 8/10

Beware, result of drinking in an unappropriate way could lead to... ... ...

4th, sorry no photo (photographer too tired) Rating: 8/10
5th, Schloss Schonborn 2001 Hattenheimer Pfaffenberg Rheingau Riesling Kabinet. RM80. White Wine. Sweet. Not much nose. Light Floral. Light lemony taste. Some say like sparkling juice. Sweet sparkling taste when sipped & heart melted when swallowed. Rating: 9/10 (FYI, 3 levels of sweetness. Kabinet, Spatlese & Auslese. As Auslese is the sweetest, it can be consumed as a desert wine. Always remember to start with lighter taste of wine then to the stronger taste ones)
6th, Mantellassi Le Sentinelle Riserva 2003 Morellino Di Scansano. RM100-120. Red wine. Heavy tears. Plummy and full of black cherries. Strong. Spicy. Nice Balance. Acidic. Good finish. Rating: 7/10 among the ladies & 8/10 among the guys
7th, Selbach-Oster 2001 Graacher Domprobst Riesling Auslese. RM180. White wine. pretty good nose. slight mineral. floral. Limey. Sweet. Sweet. Sweet...mmm... Hui Ping, please control yourself! Rating: 9/10

And we won't forget Bee's trademark tongue showing. (Hey, is rude u know! Like the finger showing)

Last but not least, we wouldn't forget our Poh Jeh for treating us for the delicious sau kung chau. Thank you Poh Jeh! Erm, when is the next treat. :Þ

Karaoke @ Neway, One Utama on 22.01.08

Another karaoke session which our dear sis Ping has been eagerly waiting for & dreaded by Foong. The food was not appealing this time & only the chicken boiled with yeong sam sou is the attraction to Kim, sis Poh, Jia Ee & Foong. I think we were a lil high that nite (or too bored) cos few unexpected had happen.

Dennis & Andrew both sang to force Foong to say she loves either of them (Lei Kong, Lei Kong lei ngoi ngo!). HAh, she was fully entertained.

We also dance to the YMCA (noticed sis Poh was a bit slow on her Y & M).

Sis Poh also had a solo expressing on a song.

Lastly, ending of karaoke session we did a dreadful singing of the Leo Ku's Keng Gor Kam Khuk which sounds like a 10 minutes mourning song. That was so torturous. Can't believe we've done it. Wat a disgrace to Leo Ku!

wait a minute, need to highlight something. Bee, what are you doing with your tongue again!

Lunch @ Sunrise on 15.1.08

This place is famous for its roast duck. It is somewhere in Seapark (The row opposite KFC).
The restaurant is pack during lunch hour & is hot & stuffy during sunny weather. The duck is nice but somehow felt/tasted that the quality of the roast duck has dropped. Nevertheless, we are still satisfied with the hearty lunch. Some of us nearly slept in the lift way back to work.

Dinner @ Carnaval Churrascaria on 11.1.08

For some reason or another, we are out for some good food again. Few varieties of vege's (don't miss the brinjal, Ladies finger & the sambal), grill beef, fish, chicken, sausages, ham & the most important is the pineapple. They may not have too many varieties to choose from but they have the quality on the food they serve & is all free flow.

Anyone interested can try it out at;

Carnaval Churrascaria 77, Jalan SS22/19, Damansara Jaya Tel:03-7728 5411(off) 03-7725 2252(restaurant)

They have some sort of weekly promotion (look below) but may change on special holiday. Mon-party nite 5 adults 1 free Tue-wine & dine nite "BYO" Wed-ladies nite 15% off Sun-family day 15% off (Corkage i think is RM20 per bottle except Tue is free)

Singapore Trip - Tim Sum @ Jade Palace, Takashimaya b4 going back to KL on 1.12.07

This is our last meal of the trip, Spore Tim Sum. They really have the QC here. The tim sum is nice. Few best was the porridge (oohh... so smooth & delicious), Loh Mai Kai (sorry no photo taken cos we finished it b4 we could even have the chance to capture it), Char siew pao...

This trip was a lil tiring (just look at Andrew's face should explain all) but we were all very happy (yes! bought lotsa stuffs). If only can stay another day to shop :(

Lastly, we thank Andrew & Dennis for their hospitality bringing us around Spore.

BF,JE & YF: Hey! We didnt get to eat the otak-otak yet!!!!!
